Focus On La Liga’s Barcelona vs Atletico Madrid Before El Clasico Cup Final

The Catalans are well ahead of Real Madrid in the league with 7 points separating the top spot from the second position. On Saturday, they will play Los Blancos’ local rivals Atletico Madrid with the same ambition that has seen them collect 58 points so far in the race for La Liga title – and that is nothing but the aim of winning.

Barcelona are not willing to get carried away by the comfortable situation which they are currently enjoying. Earlier in the week, they sealed their passage onto the final of the Copa del Rey and they now await April 20’s mouth-watering Barcelona vs Real Madrid clash. But as Javier Mascherano explained on Barcelona’s official club website, there is still a long way and many more matches to go before that date.

“Between the final and now, there are two months. We are very happy [to have reached the final] but there are important games to play before then – starting with the match against Atletico Madrid this Saturday.

“We cannot think about that [Copa del Rey final] if we want to make sure of avoiding problems in other competitions.”

Barcelona have widely been tipped to retain their La Liga title. However, they won’t take anything for granted considering the experience they gained last season as they were pushed all the way to the final moments of the championship before claiming glory.
