Andres Guardado has issued a plea to match officials to watch out for Neymar Jr ’s frolics.

Brazil and Mexico will come face-to-face at the Samara Arena on Monday as they seek to progress to the quarterfinal. The pair set up the date by topping Group E and finishing as runner-up in Group F respectively.

Ahead of the eagerly anticipated clash, skipper of El Tri Andres Guardado has admonished match officials to keep a keen eye on Neymar Jr as he has a reputation of "exaggerating fouls" on him.

"We all know Neymar," the midfielder stated at Friday’s news conference.

"It's not up to me or us to judge, but the referees and FIFA.

"Now they have VAR [Video Assistant Referees], they have to watch his style of play and the referee needs to be on top of it because we know he likes to exaggerate fouls, he likes to drop to the floor a lot.

"But I repeat, it is his style of play and those who have to judge and in a way put an end to it are the officials, not us."

Neymar failed to make an impact in his side’s opening group game against Switzerland after being fouled for a record 10-time. The Seleccao has since been key to his side’s success by scoring and assisting once in their last two group games.
