Match Preview:

Iceland earned the rights to feature at this summer's competition in Russia by pipping the likes of Croatia, Turkey, and Ukraine to the top spot in the qualification phase. However, life after they achieved the historic feat hasn't exactly been pleasant considering they have won just two of their last seven games.

The defensive frailties of the Iceland has also seen them concede three goals apiece in each of their last three encounters. This, of course, does not bid well for Heimir Hallgrimsson's men who open their World Cup campaign against Argentina on June 16. His side will subsequently take on Nigeria before they feature against Croatia in their last Group D game.

Ahead of the upcoming friendly, they will be hoping that the test against Ghana will prepare them to mount a tough resilience against Nigeria. The Black Stars, despite failing to qualify for the World Cup this year, have been impressive in their bidding in recent times. They come into the encounter on the back of a five-game unbeaten run, securing three wins in their last four matches on the road.

In the previous match, the side led by Coach Kwesi Appiah sealed a 2-0 win over Japan in Yokohama. Although many star figures were left behind, confidence is really high in the camp of the Ghanaians and, as a result, Iceland will have to do more than they done in recent games to get a result in Reykjavik.
