Their search for a talented midfielder has them looking at the same player in the English top-flight.

The exit of Andres Iniesta has left Barcelona worried over the midfield position. With the Spanish maestro gone, not only is the club short on numbers in that role but has also lost a talented playmaker.

Thus, the Blaugrana is now looking to England to find the ideal player to fill in that gap. According to Sport, the Catalan giant has identified Christian Eriksen.

Philippe Coutinho was signed in January and was initially seen as the replacement for Andres, but the Brazilian could be used in Valverde's attacking trio, alongside Messi and Suarez. This would free up space for the Danish ace in the starting lineup.

Signing the Tottenham star will not be easy, however. He might be seen as a Plan B if the Griezmann deal falls through, but Eriksen is an undeniable talent. He is under contract with the Spurs until 2020 and club chairman Daniel Levy is a tough man to negotiate with.

To make things more difficult for the Spanish Primera Division champion, Real Madrid is also reportedly eyeing the 26-year-old. As stated by Marca on Wednesday morning, Los Blancos is on the lookout for possible successors to the soon-to-be 33-year-old Luka Modric, who was also signed from the north London outfit.

The Premier League playmaker won't come cheap, though. His price tag is estimated to be $133m, which is affordable for the Spanish giants but nowhere near a bargain.
