American businessman John Henry didn't hold back when speaking about those players that chose to leave Liverpool, questioning their reasons to do so.

They pushed hard for an exit, but now Liverpool could have the last laugh.

Liverpool's owner, American businessman John Henry, shared his views on the upcoming UEFA Champions League final between the Reds and Real Madrid, and while doing so, he referred to Philippe Coutinho and Luis Suárez, who missed out on the chance to win the most coveted trophy in European football in order to pursue their dreams of playing for Barcelona.

"Maybe it's because I'm an American, but I have a difficult time understanding why anyone would want to leave Liverpool. 'The club is so rich in history and tradition, supported by so many millions around the world, in virtually every country of the world," Henry told the Daily Mail.

Henry has been deemed as Liverpool's owner since 2010.

While Suárez has won the trophy with Los Blaugranas, Henry's words seemed to be dedicated to Coutinho, who left the team during the winter transfer window to join the Catalan giants.

"They'll be watching this weekend and could have been playing. But (part owner) Mike Gordon, (sporting director) Michael Edwards and everyone in our scouting department have done a terrific job in making the best of those two difficult situations." Henry added.

The American tycoon also took a jibe against La Liga, referring to the Spanish league as a "weak" competition.

"It's hard to understand why players would want to go to a league where the competition is so weak. They must play 30 or so meaningless matches per year waiting for Champions League matches," Liverpool's main man added.

The businessman took the opportunity to praise Jürgen Klopp, his staff and the players that did stay, stating that they should make the most out of their chance to make history on Saturday evening.

"Being in the final is a reflection of the incredible support this club gets at Anfield and the ability (of) Jurgen and the entire staff to put our players in the position to be successful. You can do all of that but the players have to step up and they have. They've been on a mission, I expect that will continue this weekend in Kiev," Henry concluded.
