Coach Fernando Santos didn't wait until June 4 to reveal those players that would be included in the backup list.

Being part of the biggest accomplishment in Portugal's international history wasn't enough for some of those players, and coach Fernando Santos had to leave them out of the World Cup roster.

Barcelona players André Gomes and Nelson Semedo, who haven't enjoyed their best seasons with Los Blaugranas, were cut from the 35-man squad submitted by their tactician on Tuesday.

Gomes' snub caps a disappointing year for the midfielder, where he has admitted to being "frustrated" by his role with Los Blaugranas, and he had hoped for a successful tournament with A Seleçao Das Quinas this summer with a transfer away from Camp Nou Stadium in sight.

Surprisingly enough, coach Santos also left Nani and Eder out of the 23-men roster that's set to play in Russia. Nani was one of the best players in the 2016 UEFA Euro for Portugal, while Eder scored the goal that would give the Portuguese side their first major trophy.

Here's Portugal's official roster for the 2018 World Cup.
