The former Manchester City and Inter Milan tactician beat Antonio Conte and Carlo Ancelotti to the coveted coaching gig.

Following Italy's elimination from the 2018 World Cup, speculation filled the news regarding who would become the Azzurri's new boss. Today, Roberto Mancini became the team's new tactician, replacing Giampiero Ventura at the helm.

Mancini, fresh off a two-year stint at Zenit, admitted that the team needs intensity to get back to winning ways, and that will be his first order of business when he starts working with his pupils.

It's an honor to lead the Nazionale in this new era. I think this was the right move for me. This will be a tough moment for us, and there's much work to be done," Mancini stated.

The former Inter Milan and Manchester City boss has stated that every Italian player will be considered for his new team, while hinting that the Azzurri's "Bad Boy" will also have his shot at wearing the national team's jersey in the future.

"Mario is an Italian player. We'll definitely consider him and we'll probably call him up. He's one of those player who we want to see back in the form he showed in the European Championship with Prandelli," Mancini stated.

The former Man City boss will have his first game at the helm on May 28, when the Azzurri face Saudi Arabia in a warmup game for the Asian side. Mancini signed a two-year deal with the Nazionale.
