The Brazilian ace's worst fears were confirmed today by the same doctor in charge of Neymar's foot surgery.

What started out as a possibility has been confirmed today, as Dani Alves has been ruled out from the 2018 World Cup due to a knee injury.

The initial diagnosis predicted Alves needed three weeks to recover from a knee injury he picked up during the Coupe de France match this week. After further assessment by Brazil's doctor, Rodrigo Lasmar, it has been decided that Alves needs more time to recover, killing his chances of playing with A Canarinha this summer.

Doctor Rodrigo Lasmar was the man in charge of bringing Neymar back to fitness after his foot injury. Lasmar got together with PSG's physicians to make the final assessment on Alves' knee.

Once the news broke out, Brazilian outlets have rumored that Rafinha (Bayern), Danilo (Man City) and Fagner (Corinthians) are Tite's options to take over Alves' duties for the South American team.
