Xavi, Ronaldinho, and the late Tito Vilanova were also brought up in his talk with Mundo Deportivo.

With the league title already wrapped up, all the focus leading up to the end of Barcelona’s season has been on Andres Iniesta. After spending his entire professional career with the Blaugrana, the Spaniard revealed that he will be leaving at the end of the season.

The 34-year-old has won the league and cup double in his final season with the Catalan giant and will wave goodbye to the team and its fans in the Camp Nou clash with Real Sociedad. Ahead of that emotional game, the World Cup winner sat down with Mundo Deportivo for an interesting interview.

The legendary maestro was asked to describe his team-mates from past and present in one sentence. Iconic midfielder Xavi, one of many to be mentioned, was labeled as “a reference” by Iniesta.

The Spaniard gave Messi the most befitting title, calling the Argentine “unique”. Ronaldinho was nothing short of “magical” in Andres’ eyes while Puyol will forever be “the captain” for the midfielder.

The Asia-bound ace was also asked about the numerous managers who have graced Iniesta’s career. Louis Van Gaal was one of those tacticians and when his name was brought up, the Barcelona legend labeled him as “my most important manager”.

The 34-year-old’s choice may surprise many, given that he had worked under Pep Guardiola and enjoyed his most successful spell under the Spanish tactician. However, it should not be forgotten that it was the Dutchman who handed Iniesta his Barcelona debut back in 2002.

As for the current Man City boss, the departing playmaker insisted that Pep continues to be “a master for me”. Iniesta also had kind words for the late Tito Vilanova, who sadly passed away after losing his battle with cancer, hailing him as an ”exceptional manager and person”.
