Barcelona will come up against Almeria later today in the Copa del Rey’s semi-finals, and Coach Pep Guardiola is certain that the match will not be an easy one for the home side.
Barcelona lost their last Copa del Rey match to Real Betis 3-1 away from home, despite defeating them comfortably 5-0 at the Camp Nou in the first leg. The Catalans are aware that a “surprise” could pop up this evening, and as a result, they have yet to underrate their opponents.

“I have never seen such a thing as an easy semi final,” Guardiola said speaking ahead of the Barcelona vs Almeria game. “They are always tough, and they are a big issue.

Barca humiliated Almeria 8-0 back in November 2010, in a victory which ended up being their greatest ever under the leadership of Pep since 2008. There might however not be such sweet moments in the semi-finals’ first leg encounter in the Copa del Rey today, and Los Cules’ trainer is not even thinking of repeating such an attainment.

“Almeria have a new manager and you have to look at what they have done since Oltra has been in charge,” he explained. “I would settle for a lot less than that result.

“Just because one game went one way surely does not mean that the next will be the same. They drew with (Real) Madrid, and they won their last two cup matches.”
