Preview

Roma come into this game having lost 2-0 to Fiorentina over the weekend, which puts a major dent in their hopes to secure third spot in Serie A. That marked the second straight loss for Eusebio Di Francesco's men across all competitions, during which they have conceded six goals and scored just once. However, key midfielder Radja Nainggolan, who missed out on the first leg of this series due to injury, could make a return here as they seek to stage what would be a very impressive comeback against a tournament favorite.

By contrast, Barcelona followed up their 4-1 thrashing of Roma with a comfortable 3-1 victory over Leganes this past weekend. Worryingly for Roma perhaps, Lionel Messi was again at his brilliant best, as he netted all three goals to warm up for his return to the Stadio Olimpico. When this tie was announced, Ernesto Valverde's side were the obvious favorites to breeze through, and Messi's no stranger to scoring at Roma's ground - including a notable goal in the final in 2009 to help seal victory and a Treble for Barcelona.

That being said, one should not underestimate Roma. The Lupi can certainly bite back, and they are not at this juncture just by chance. Will their impressive home record thus far in this season's Champions League prove to be deciding factor?
