The Egyptian star is facing a race against time to be fully fit for the Champions League trip to the Etihad Stadium.

Tuesday will be the highly-anticipated clash between Man City and Liverpool in the Champions League. These two English clubs will battle it out for a spot in the semi-final, with the Reds having won 3-0 in the first leg.

Many are wondering whether the Citizens will be able to pull off a comeback. A lot rests on the fitness of Mohamed Salah, who has been fighting to overcome an injury in time for the Etihad Stadium trip.

The Egyptian superstar who contributed to two goals in the first-leg victory – scoring one and assisting another – picked up a knock in the Anfield encounter. The former Roma ace was thus forced to leave the game due to a groin injury.

Salah was subsequently rested in the Merseyside Derby in order to be ready for their upcoming Champions League tie. Speaking ahead of the match, Klopp had this to say about the clubs’ leading scorer (as per Liverpool's official website):

“[I have] No real clue at the moment [about Salah’s availability] because we have to wait a little bit. You can imagine, in this short period between games, it is quite difficult so I have to wait each minute I can and that’s what I’ll do. There’s nothing new at the moment, we will see.

“We will see in five hours until we train and we’ll know who is involved in that. I don’t know at the moment 100 percent, but I am quite hopeful we will have a bigger squad than we had at Everton.”

The German boss also revealed that the Ox, Firmino, and Trent are fine ahead of the Man City clash. As for Salah, only time will tell whether he will start.

Most sources, however, tip the attacker to start on Tuesday. The Times writes that the Egyptian is fit to return to the lineup in order to hand Guardiola’s men their third consecutive defeat in all competitions.
