This is not what Barcelona fans wanted to hear.

Barcelona fans who were confident of seeing Antoine Griezmann donning their jersey next season have been handed a huge blow. The Frenchman has revealed that he has not agreed to join the Blaugrana.

Several reports have suggested that a deal is already in place to bring the Atletico Madrid ace to Camp Nou. The fact that the Catalan giant’s number seven jersey remains vacant despite Coutinho’s arrival further suggests that the Frenchman’s arrival is inevitable.

However, the player himself has denied that Los Rojiblancos is currently negotiating or has already negotiated his sale. Speaking to Telefoot on TF1, the 27-year-old said (as per L'Equipe):

"I don't know where this information has come from but I don't know anything and for that, I'm not going to talk at the moment."

Unfortunately for the Madrid giant, this does not mean Griezmann will be staying in the Spanish capital. His days at the Wanda Metropolitano still appear numbered.

When asked about the possibility of leaving Atletico, the former Real Sociedad winger admitted to one thing: he wants everything resolved before the World Cup. According to the attacker, an unresolved future will be an unwanted distraction during his time in Russia.

This all points to one thing: although his exit has not been decided, his departure might be inevitable. For Valverde’s side, Griezmann’s addition will be a huge boost. For Simeone’s men, it will deeply hurt a squad looking to compete in La Liga.
