The Swedish ace shocked the world by leaving the Red Devils three months before the end of his contract to join LA Galaxy

Despite all rumors about why Zlatan Ibrahimovic decided to terminate his contract with Manchester United three months in advance, the real reasons for his decision emerged today thanks to his physician.

Speaking to the South China Morning Post, the doctor that helped Zlatan in his recovery from a knee injury last year admitted that losing to Sevilla in the Round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League was fundamental for Ibrahimovic to bid farewell to the club.

"He liked Manchester United, he's a hero before the injury. His idea was to see if we can go back and win more titles, especially the Champions League. After United lost to Sevilla, I think his decision, in my opinion, was that maybe that was it. United won't be able to catch up with Manchester City in the Premier League either," doctor Freddie Fu Ho-keung stated.

The doctor also came clean about the kind of relationship Mourinho and Zlatan had, ruling out any chance of them having any problems that forced the Swede away from Old Trafford.

"Ibrahimovic and the coach [Jose Mourinho] got along well," the doctor added.

Zlatan's disappointment after Manchester United's early exit from the UCL was shared by his doctor, since he believes that winning the FA Cup wouldn't have been as relevant as winning Europe's most coveted competition.

"Maybe they can win the FA Cup which is good but not as good as the Champions League. He did everything else pretty much, won every major thing. Unfortunately they lost to Sevilla. I think he would have stayed longer, but he didn't tell me that," the doctor concluded.

Zlatan will be elegible for the first-ever Los Angeles Derby next Saturday, when Los Angeles Galaxy, his new team, faces the Los Angeles Football Club.
