Reports regarding the player's problems with the Spanish tax authorities emerged today, and the player wasn't happy about them.

Just when things seemed to be getting better for Cristiano Ronaldo, the ghost of the tax evasion investigation conducted by the Spanish IRS is back to haunt him.

The Portuguese player, who is being investigated for failing to declare €14.7M (some $18.1M) in taxes coming from his image rights, saw his name pop up in an article published by El Mundo.

The Spanish newspaper claims that CR7 offered the Spanish IRS a blank check to forget about the charges. The report also states that the Spanish IRS turned down the offer and will keep on with the proceedings. If found guilty, Cristiano Ronaldo could be forced to serve jail time, especially if he fails to reach an agreement with the Spanish tax authorities.

The player denied such claims by labeling them as "fake news." In fact, CR7 posted an pic on Instagram urging his haters to stop their attacks against him, especially during one of his best streaks as a goalscorer.

"Don't try to turn off the great moment I'm living by publishing fake news. Life is good. Blessed."

Não tentem apagar o momento bonito que estou vivendo com notícias falsas!!! Life is good. Blessed

Messi, Mascherano and other footballers have faced the same kind of problems CR7 is facing right now. The only difference between those cases and Cristiano's situation is that the Portuguese player has failed to reach an agreement with the Spanish IRS, which could lead to his incarceration if he's found guilty of tax evasion.
