What was expected to be an easily surmountable task for the Old Trafford outfit, served up a nightmarish spectacle for fans of the club across the globe. Having kept the visitors at bay for the first 45 minutes, as well as the majority of the second-half, the sanguinity to cruise to victory with the right opportunity was shattered after two late goals by substitute Wissam Ben Yedder silenced the Old Trafford crowd.
Romelu Lukaku managed to pull one back for the host but, despite vague attempts to do the unthinkable with barely seven minutes to end proceeding, the unforeseen befell Jose Mourinho’s men. The Portuguese coach has since been criticised heavily for his choice of personnel to start the game as well as his defensive approach.
With a bench possessing attacking options in the likes of Anthony Martial, Juan Mata and Paul Pogba, many expected the former Chelsea manager to initially go for the kill. However, that was barely the case as his side had all their defensive works undone by Sevilla at the death.
Perhaps being too little too late, all the aforementioned were later introduced into the game to help salvage what was left. All in all, a huge frenzy has built up on social media and sympathizers of the Red Devils are certainly not going to put this to rest anytime soon. Check out a few of the best tweets below:
Mourinho has to stop shoe-horning Sánchez in at left wing. It’s stifling the team and the attack looks so out of sync. Put him on the right, or on the bench for now, and play players in their correct roles.

Jose Mourinho: “The first goal was always going to be important.”

Might have been a good idea to try and score it.
It should be FA Cup or bust for José Mourinho. Second place glamorises their performances given how far they are behind Manchester City. Miserable European campaign. If they don’t win the FA Cup, this season will have been an enormous failure.

Does it even matter who we sign in the summer?

Mkhitaryan - German POTY
Alexis - One of the best players in PL
Zlatan - 156 goals in 4 seasons
Pogba - World XI & UEFA TOTY
All noticably declined once Mourinho has got his hands on them. Too many players to be a coincidence.
Mourinho needs to understand that Pogba has to be allowed freedom offensively, and stop limiting him. He goes high naturally, which is being limited by giving him so many defensive duties. Should have subbed of Sánchez who, again, was pretty invisible.

Mourinho can't get the best out of our best players so why should he be backed in the transfer window ?
— T'kwabs (@KKT___) March 13, 2018
Mourinho is incapable of getting the best out of our best player. Pls don’t give him anymore money. Let’s save.
