The Portuguese midfielder recently stated that his Blaugrana career has "turned into a kind of hell".

Saying Andre Gomes’ Barcelona career is a nightmare would be an understatement. After arriving at Camp Nou as a Euro 2016 champion, all the excitement surrounding the Portuguese midfielder has turned into frustration.

He has been subjected to jeers and whistles from Blaugrana fans after struggling to impress with the Catalan giant. The former Valencia ace recently opened up about life with the Spanish Primera Division leader, likening it to being in hell.

"I don't feel good on the pitch," he said in an interview with Spanish magazine Panenka. "I am not enjoying what I am doing. The first six months [at Barca] were pretty good but then things changed.

"Maybe it's not the right word to use, but it has turned into a kind of hell because I have started to feel more pressure. With pressure, I feel fine, but with the pressure [I put] on myself, I don't. The feeling that I have during games is bad."

Club spokesperson Josep Vives stated (as per Marca) that Barcelona supports and is working with the player to improve his situation. Regardless, his numbers prove that he is indeed going through hell.

The 25-year-old has made only 25 appearances in all competitions this season; however, only 10 of those were starts. It is an awful demise for a player who was valued at La Mestalla.

In his final season at Valencia, Gomes made 27 starts in La Liga, scoring three and assisting three. In all competitions, he had set up six goals and found the back of the net five times.

In his entire Barcelona career, his debut season and the current campaign, the Portuguese midfielder has made the starting lineup only 21 times. He has scored only three times in a Blaugrana jersey while assisting only four goals.

The fact that Gomes’ all-time stats at Barcelona cannot match his number from his final season at Valencia is only half the story. The midfielder’s only hope now seems to be a move away from Camp Nou; otherwise, he will be forced to endure with this ordeal.
