It’s three in two now for Gyasi Zardes!

Columbus Crew SC kept it very late to clinch their second win of the season in what was a dramatic game at home to Montreal Impact. The host got in front in the 12-minute thanks to Federico Higuaín’s converted penalty kick before Zardes doubled their lead three minutes later.

What seemed like a steady cruise to victory took a rough turn when Ignacio Piatti pulled one back for the visitors in the 59th-minute before Raheem Edward’s 85th-minute strike nearly guaranteed a point for Remi Garde’s team. Any hope of the game ending in parity was, however, shelved after a penalty went in favor of Columbus inside the 94th minute.

New-boy Gyasi Zardes stepped up again and made no error of the chance to take his goal tally in two games to three and subsequently moved to the apex of the top goalscorers’ chart. His new team also sits atop the league log with six points after two games.

Columbus Crew SC will take on Philadelphia Union in their next game on Saturday, March 17.
