Gabriel Jesus’s 8th-minute strike took Manchester City’s all-time goal tally in the UEFA Champions League to 100.

After sending FC Basel into oblivion in their own backyard via a 4:0 scoreline, Wednesday’s fixture was expected to be a formality for the Citizens. The host went off to a flying start as Bernardo Silva's lowly-placed cross was slotted home by Brazilian sensation Gabriel Jesus who was handed his first start after a lengthy injury layoff.

The goal, which was the 20-year-old forward’s third in six UCL appearances this season, took Manchester City to a historical landmark of scoring a century of goals. City joins other English sides such as Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool on the elite list.

However, fans of the Etihad outfit have something to be proud of as their beloved club reached the feat with the fourth-best goals per game ratio of 1.79. Per UEFA’s statistics, only Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern München and Paris have a better ratio.
