How did the ref miss that HARSH challenge?

Prior to Tottenham's goal, things could have taken an ugly turn for Juventus, as Andrea Barzagli took desperate measures to stop Heung-Min Son. His attempts included throwing an elbow and stamping on the South Korean player's left leg twice, before missing out on a third attempt as Son tried to defend himself while on the pitch.

Barzagli had been exposed several times by Son prior to this incident, but that's not the way to get even!
