The Gunners' squad has suffered a setback ahead of their game against the Citizens.

It has only been a few days since Arsenal was thrashed 3-0 in the League Cup final, but the club is set to face Man City once again. Unfortunately, the Gunners’ odds of winning has been rocked by injury.

Speaking to the press ahead of Thursday’s Emirates Stadium tie, Arsene Wenger revealed that he will be without Nacho Monreal. This comes as a huge blow as the Spaniard has been one of the club’s key players this season.

The 32-year-old was substituted in the first half of the Wembley defeat after suffering an injury. Le Prof has confirmed his problem to be an inflamed back which could keep him out for four games.

Their Premier League clash with Guardiola’s men comes too soon and he will definitely sit this game out. Monreal has also been ruled out for Sunday’s encounter with Brighton.

After that weekend clash, the north London outfit will travel to AC Milan for the first leg of their Europa League round of 16 tie. Wenger also admitted that the fullback could also miss that crucial match.

"He is out for the two games this weekend - Thursday and Sunday certainly. He might be out for two more games - Milan and maybe one more [Watford]," the French boss told reporters in a press conference, as per Sky Sports.

This will be a huge blow for Arsenal. Their chances of finishing in the top four are slim given that they are 10 points behind fourth-placed Tottenham.

This means winning the Europa League is the club’s best shot at qualifying for the Champions League next season. Unfortunately, Wenger’s leaky defense has suffered an awful setback.

A return to form is needed in their upcoming league tie. Beating the Citizens at the Emirates Stadium will not be easy, but it is a must-win game if the London giant wishes to avoid plunging into further turmoil.
