This season's Europa League is certainly going to be a lot more interesting due to some of the teams that will be taking part.
Already, big names like Arsenal were featuring from the outset after failing to secure a top four spot in the Premier League, but after the group stages of the Champions League concluded, a whole crop of big sides have now dropped down into Europe's second tier competition as well.
Some of the huge names fans will definitely recognize include Atletico Madrid, who were Champions League finalists in 2014 and 2016, as well as Borussia Dortmund, who made history by featuring in an all-German final against Bayern Munich in 2013. RB Leipzig, who featured in their first-ever top flight German campaign last season, dropped down into the Europa League after failing to finish in the top two in their group and now will hope to get the better of Napoli, who clearly are more focused on trying to win the Scudetto than go anywhere in European competition this season.
Serie A, in fact, has quite a few representatives still in this contest. In addition to the aforementioned Napoli and Atalanta, both Lazio and AC Milan are still featuring, while Ligue 1 are represented by Nice, Lyon, and Olympique Marseille.
After an entertaining first leg in the Champions League round of 16 on Tuesday and Wednesday, we now turn our attention towards the Europa League. There are plenty of big games taking places today, and all eyes will be on some of these teams to see how they fare against some of their lesser-known opponents. Will there be any kind of upsets this Thursday, especially in the case of Arsenal taking on Swedish outfit Östersunds FK and Atletico Madrid facing Danish outfit København?
