Mohamed Salah scored Liverpool’s second goal at the Estadio do Dragao versus FC Porto.

It is almost becoming a normality, isn’t it?! The 25-year-old Egyptian calmly controlled a rebound, flicked the ball over the on-rushing FC Porto goalie, headed and slotted the it into the gaping net to ensure that Liverpool had a solid two-goal lead in the first half of their Round of 16 first-leg game at the Estadio do Dragao.

Not only is Mohamed Salah now just a hat-trick away from equalling Fernando Torres’ record 33 goals in a single season that has stood for 10 years, he is now the 13th player in Liverpool’s history to score 30 goals in a single season. Retrospectively, it is the fourth time in the last 10 years that a Liverpool player has managed to score 30 goals or more in a season.

The other names on the distinguished list include Luis Suarez, who did it twice in the 2012/2013 and 2013/2014 seasons by scoring 30 and 31 goals respectively, as well as Fernando Torres in the 2007/2008 season with his 33 goals. Here is the breakdown of Mohamed Salah’s 30-goal tally for this season:

  • Premier League: 22
  • FA Cup: 1
  • UEFA Champions League: 7
