The Italian boss was asked if the Blues will make a late attempt to hijack Man United's deal for the Chilean.

Alexis Sanchez appeared destined to join Man City a few days ago. The Chilean ace reportedly desired a Pep Guardiola reunion, coming close to an Etihad switch last summer.

Now, however, his move to the Citizens seems unlikely to happen. The Premier League leader decided to pull out of the race for the Arsenal attacker due to the Gunners’ asking price and a sign-on fee.

Man United is now the favorite to land the wantaway South American ace, but several reports linked Chelsea with a late attempt to hijack the deal. Conte’s side has struggled to score recently, suffering three consecutive goalless draws, and could thus profit from the addition of the 29-year-old.

On Tuesday, the Italian was asked if the rumors are true. Unfortunately for the Blues fans, Conte had disappointing news, saying he does not think the London outfit is chasing after Alexis.

This all but clears Sanchez’s path to Old Trafford. The player has reportedly agreed to personal terms with Mourinho’s side, as his time at the Emirates Stadium draws to a close.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan could arrive in north London as part of a player-plus-cash deal, but a number of reports claim the Armenian is not keen on giving up Champions League football to join the Europa League side.

Meanwhile, Wenger is searching for a replacement for Sanchez. All clues point to a move for Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, with Bordeaux starlet Malcolm also being in the mix.
