With Alexis Sanchez likely to leave in January, Wenger is working hard to sign quality players to prepare for his exit.

The recent transfer rumors have gone from horrible to exciting for Arsenal fans. With Alexis Sanchez linked with an Emirates Stadium exit, the north London giant has been linked with a move for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The Chilean is likely to leave this month, with both Man City and Man United being options for the South American. Mourinho’s side currently leads the race, but Citizens team cannot be ruled out.

Meanwhile, Wenger is reportedly closing in on a deal for one of the Bundesliga’s most clinical strikers. Aubameyang has torn apart the German top-flight since arriving from St. Etienne but is now ready for pastures new.

The Gabonese forward is one of a few targets Arsenal wishes to confirm in the next few days. The London outfit is willing to pay roughly $74m. The Emirates Stadium is not the Dortmund ace’s first choice, but the African superstar is likely to accept a move to the Gunners as an escape route from the Signal Iduna Park.

Arsenal is willing to make the striker their highest-paid player in history. Other clubs are interested in the 28-year-old, but the English side leads the race. All that is left is for Dortmund to accept their offer.

If Sanchez was to leave and Aubameyang arrived this month, what will it mean for the Malcolm transfer? Arsenal is reportedly the Brazilian preferred destination, with the Bordeaux ace willing to snub Tottenham for their north London rival.

However, there is a chance that both Aubameyang and Malcolm could be signed. According to Balague, Wenger is willing to pay $55m for the Brazilian, but he does not see the promising winger as a direct replacement for Sanchez. Although it’s hard to believe Le Prof will splash so much in January, Balague’s comments point to that.

Arsenal’s next game will be next weekend in the Premier League in a home clash with Crystal Palace. It would be exciting to see one or maybe both of the aforementioned targets make their debuts in that game.
