Zidane's replacement may already be lined up

Real Madrid eyes Zidane's replacement as coach blasts team critics

January 12, 2018 By Oscar Rojas
Florentino Pérez's resolve to keep Zizou at the helm may last until the summer if the team can't win any silverware.

Real Madrid fans will have to hold on tight if they want some changes in the team's dugout, as Zinedine Zidane may survive until the end of the season as their coach.

Needless to say, the team's lack of success this season -other than their Super Cup and Club World Cup wins- has made their fans cringe when it comes to watch their performances, and Florentino Pérez seems to have made up his mind about who should take the reigns to start a new project this summer.

According to La Stampa, current Germany coach Joachim Löw would be tempted to join Los Blancos this summer, once the World Cup comes to an end. Löw has been linked to a move to the Spanish giants before, especially before the appointment of Rafa Benitez as the team's tactician.

Löw has been in charge of the German side since the end of the 2006 World Cup.

Löw's contract with Germany expires in 2020, but a successful defense of their World Cup title -or a massive failure in doing so- could see the German boss land a new deal with Los Blancos this year.

Zidane aims dig at critics over sloppy season

Speaking in today's pre-match presser, Real Madrid's under-fire coach Zinedine Zidane refused to accept criticism over the lack of consistency his team has shown during the ongoing campaign, and even hinted that all digs aimed at Los Blancos have to be part of a plot to...sell more newspapers.

"I'm tired of hearing that our team is not playing well. It's easy to say that we're not playing well, but you know that some things are still working around here. Speaking badly about Real Madrid sells more, I guess," Zidane stated.

Despite his efforts to sugarcoat things, the team's form this season took a dip after their first loss against Betis.

Speaking about the team's goals for the remainder of the season, Zidane stated that a little bit of luck could help the team recover their supporters' faith in them.

"What we have to do is to be consistent. We have to find that in all the things we used to do well and are not working right now. We need more positive energy and add a little extra to our individual performances, the current situation of our team demands us to do so," Zidane concluded.
