Since then, Inter have failed to win their last four Serie A matches and last five across all competitions. That includes losses to Sassuolo, as well as a narrow 1-0 defeat in extra-time to cross-town rivals AC Milan. They then wrapped up 2017 with a draw against Lazio that saw them fail to find the back of the net - making it the second straight league fixture and third overall that Spalletti's squad fired blanks.
Meanwhile, Fiorentina have been on a positive kick recently. The Viola come into this game on a eight game unbeaten run, and while they were narrowly edged out of the Coppa Italia by Lazio, they nonetheless concluded 2017 with a one-all draw against Inter's cross-town rivals AC Milan.
