Liverpool’s 3-3 draw with Arsenal highlighted the need for a new goalkeeper. The blunder-prone goalkeeper made a mistake to allow the Gunners to score their second goal of the night in the six-goal thriller.
This is nothing new – the Belgian custodian has long been a liability in goal for the Reds. As a result, it comes as little surprise that Klopp is looking at one Ligue 1 shot-stopper for help.
That man is Kevin Trapp, as per The Sun. The German goalkeeper is no longer Unai Emery’s first-choice man and is thus looking for an exit in favor of playing time.
The 27-year-old lost his title as the go-to guy in between the sticks to Alphonse Arreola. Trapp fell down the pecking order last season and knows a solution must be found if he wishes to make it to Russia.
With Germany gearing up for next year’s World Cup campaign, Trapps knows his current situation puts him out of odds for a call-up. Plus, Neuer and Ter Stegen are already ahead of the PSG man.
The Ligue 1 leader is open to offers of around $17.4m; however, Liverpool isn’t the only Premier League side interested in the German. The report claims that Crystal Palace also has an eye on Trapp, with Allardyce being willing to sign the goalkeeper.
The Reds will be in action on Boxing Day, with Klopp’s side hosting Swansea in the last game on Tuesday. The Eagles, on the other hand, will have to wait until Thursday for their clash with Arsenal.
