Added to that, Gianni Infantino crushed all hopes for having Italy taking La Roja's place in the competition.

The world of football will have to wait for FIFA's decision regarding Spain's expulsion from the 2018 World Cup, as football's governing body will start an investigation regarding the possible involvement of Spanish politicians in the Spanish Federation's recent decisions, including Angel María Villar's discharge as president.

Speaking in a ceremony hosted by the Italian Olympic Committee, Infantino admitted that a pool of experts will travel to Spain in order to get full disclosure of the case that could leave La Roja without playing in the quatrennial tournament set to be played in Russia.

"We will make sure that there hasn't been or never will be a political figure involved in the decision-making process of the Royal Spanish Football Federation," Infantino stated.

Ever since Italy was eliminated from the World Cup, fans have wondered if there could be a chance to have the Azzurri side playing in the tournament next year. Today, Infantino crushed all their hopes by denying such possibilities.

"Italy's elimination is a tragedy for the football project in this country, but you have to learn from your mistakes. There's no chance for the team to play in the World Cup, you hav to earn your spot on the pitch, boys!" Infantino added with an ironic smile.
