The Argentine ace revealed his thoughts on next year's World Cup, where he wants to make ammends for losing the final match.

Losing a World Cup final can be quite shocking, and Lionel Messi's recent words about it are a fine example.

The Argentine ace spoke to FIFA.com after the World Cup draw, and hinted that now more than ever, he expects to win big with La Albiceleste and end a 24-year drought for the South American titans in all competitions.

"I haven't healed after the 2014 World Cup loss, and maybe I never will. I think we'll all have to deal with what happened there. That World Cup brings back good memories for me, but it brings back some that are quite bitter," Messi stated.

"La Pulga" spoke about La Albiceleste's chances in the tournament, especially due to the fact that Argentina struggled until the last game to qualify for the quatrennial competition.

"We'll get there in shape. After that game against Ecuador, when we were pretty nervous, you will see a different side of Argentina. The team will release that tension and we will reflect it on the pitch. We'll change a lot," Messi added.

Right after the draw, Argentina's coach Jorge Sampaoli stated that "football owes Lionel Messi a World Cup win". The Argentine ace looked back to that quote and admitted that his boss with La Albiceleste had already told him so.

"I heard it, and he even told me before he said it out loud. If that's the case, I hope football pays its debt to me," the footballer concluded.

Argentina will play in Group D of the competition. They will battle for a spot in the KO Stage against Croatia, Nigeria and newcomers Iceland.
