The Brazilian defender had some unflattering words for Italian football in a ceremony where he was acknowledged as last season's best right back in Serie A.

Dani Alves is at it again. The controversial Brazilian defender had some harsh words against his former team and the Italian top flight, sharing why he chose to leave the bianconeri and adding a slight dig at the league.

Alves, who picked up the award for the Best Right back in the Italian league last season, revealed that his arrival to the Serie A tournament last season was meant to inspire other teams to improve their game, but no one paid attention to it.

"I signed a contract with Juventus because I wanted "calcio" teams to understand that they could improve their game with signings like mine. Unfortunately, I was misunderstood. I wanted to help, but it was really hard to do on my own. Furthermore, I wasn't having as much fun as I used to, so I decided to leave the club," Alves stated.

Alves went on and aimed his sights against Serie A, demanding them to change if they want to keep up with modern football.

"Italian football has taken a dip in form. Their teams can't handle the pressure of playing in European competitions anymore. All Italian teams should make an example out of Napoli, they represent the true meaning of football these days. They learned how to rise from the ashes and start over, Alves added.

Alves concluded the interview by revealing how he found happiness at PSG, but not only for playing alongside some of his best friends, including Neymar.

"I'm truly happy, but not just because I play with Cavani, Mbappé and Neymar. I'm happy because I feel free to play and have fun while at it. I hope that Juve and Italian football understant that they have to change to keep up with modern football," the player said.
