Team news

This will be the first Madrid Derby of this season. Two struggling Spanish giants will lock horns knowing that a loss will make playing catchup with leaders Barcelona nearly impossible.

Real Madrid won their last game prior to the international break but lost their last two away matches. One reason is the drop in form from Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema, combining to score only two goals in the league this term.

Unfortunately, Zidane will not be able to call upon Gareth Bale. The Welshman suffered another injury as he was closing in on a return, picking up a strain to the middle third of the adductor longus muscle.

Dani Carvajal could make his return after missing six weeks of action due to a heart problem. Elsewhere, Isco returned to training.

Atletico also has key players returning. Koke and Yannick Carrasco are fit and could start on Saturday. Furthermore, defenders Filipe Luis and central defender Stefan Savic are in contention.
