This will be the first test for new interim boss David Unsworth, and what a test it will be. The U23s coach was given the role of senior squad manager after Ronald Koeman’s sacking, with the Toffees in the relegation zone thanks to the 5-2 home defeat to Arsenal.
His first game will be a trip to Stamford Bridge, a place where the Merseyside club have struggled in recent years. However, he has received two huge injury boosts.
Morgan Schneiderlin and James McCarthy are both fit and ready to play for the visitors. Nonetheless, they will still be without Idrissa Gana Gueye (suspended), Ross Barkley (hamstring), Ramiro Funes Mori, Yannick Bolasie (both knee) and Seamus Coleman (leg).
The hosts also have a few worrying absentees, with Danny Drinkwater (calf), N'Golo Kante (hamstring) and Victor Moses (hamstring) yet to return from injury. Nonetheless, Conte is expected to field a strong squad to earn a convincing win.
