The Argentine forward will now remain on the sidelines for a longer period after breaking his ribs in a car crash.

Argentina will be without striker Sergio Aguero for this crucial international break. The South American ace broke his rib cage in a car accident whilst in Amsterdam attending a concert.

As a result, La Albiceleste will have to do without the Man City goalscorer for their final two World Cup qualifiers. This is a huge blow to Jorge Sampaoli’s fifth-placed side, who hold the playoff spot by a single point, as they need to win their remaining fixtures to book their ticket to Russia.

Now, his return to the Citizens appears to be further down the road than initially expected. This is according to The Times, reporting that his injury is “worse than first thought”.

The 29-year-old was visited by the Argentina national team doctor. His prediction: Aguero will be out for six months at the very least.

"A month and a half, minimum,” said Donato Villani on the forward’s recovery. Although his elongated absence has little effect on the national side, it will be a huge setback for Man City.

The former Atletico Madrid ace will miss several key games for the Premier League leaders as a result. Kun Aguero will likely miss their home and away clashes with Napoli. In England, Man City will likely be without his services for games against Stoke, Burnley, West Brom and Arsenal.
