The Catalan defender offered to step down from the National Team if he was seen as a liability. Fans had their say during La Roja's workout today.

"If our coach or anyone from the Spanish Federation believe that I represent a problem, I'd have no problem leaving the team before the 2018 World Cup," that's what Gerard Piqué told the media after Sunday's clash against Las Palmas, which was preceeded by violent signs of repression by Spanish authorities against Catalan citizens.

Today, the atmosphere during La Roja's training session saw fans booing Gerard Piqué as he approached the pitch, followed by chants filled with insults towards the center back.

Pique's political views have caused Spanish fans to jeer against him for more than a year, even when he's wearing La Roja's jersey. After Sunday's incidents in Catalunya, some experts believed that fans would take it easy on the defender, but they were indeed mistaken, as the insults and boos dominated the training session.

In case you were wondering, Spanish fans at the training session yelled "Piqué, s***head, out of the National Team," while others demanded his exile from La Roja.

Have a look at the video.

The same thing happened as the team left the pitch. The only player who was able to calm people down was Isco, who tried to ease the tension by waving at those attending the Spanish Federation's training complex.
