PSG identify Cavani replacement

PSG identify Cavani replacement ahead of rumored exit

September 23, 2017 By Ali M.
The Ligue 1 leaders appear ready to offload the Uruguayan after his bust-up with Neymar during the 2-0 win over Lyon.

Rumors linking Edinson Cavani with a PSG exit continue to pick up pace despite reportedly burying the hatchet with Neymar. The two players clashed over a penalty in the 2-0 win over Lyon, with team-mates stepping in to hold the South American aces apart in the dressing room.

Neymar reportedly apologized to the former Napoli ace over the incident, but a report by Sport claiming the Brazilian demanded Cavani be sold has already done its damage. The 30-year-old has been linked with a move to the Premier League.

And England could be where his replacement lies. According to the Sun, the Ligue 1 leaders have already identified the player to fill Cavani’s shoes should he be sold. According to the British tabloid, that man is none other than wantaway Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez.

The Chilean is out of contract next summer and it’s no kept secret that the Copa America winner wishes to leave the Emirates. Failure to win the Premier League and qualify for the Champions League this season were the deciding factors.

This could mean bad news for Man City. Pep Guardiola is an admirer of Sanchez and made several attempts to sign the former Barcelona attacker – all of which were rejected by the Gunners.

Les Parisiens are willing to pay Alexis £275,000 per week – the same as the Citizens – but the French giants have also offered to throw in a huge signing on fee. A source said: "City's pursuit of Alexis could be in trouble. Pep is sure he wants to join the club but Paris are sniffing.

"They still have the funds to sign him and can beat City's wage offer. They will also pay him a huge signing on fee.

"Sanchez can talk to European clubs in January and sign a pre-contract. He's in a very strong situation."
