If things go from bad to worse, the Gunners could be without their star attacker when the Premier League resumes.

With things already being bad at Arsenal, the Gunners have received another huge blow during the international break. Superstar Alexis Sanchez has been hit with an injury scare that could deprive Wenger of his services.

The Chilean has only featured in one game for the north London outfit. Unfortunately, his return coincided with the 4-0 defeat to Liverpool, a score line which has left Arsenal’s title hopes in shambles after only three games.

Sanchez, who was an ineffective figure during La Roja’s 3-0 defeat to Paraguay, injured his ankle during training with the national side. Bio Bio Chile write that the 28-year-old in now a doubt for their next World Cup qualifier against Bolivia.

According to El Mercurio, the former Barcelona ace left training with an ice pack around his left ankle. This is where things get more worrying for the FA Cup holders.

Wenger needs the South American back in top form as quick as possible – there was a reason why Le Prof rejected a mega-money offer from Man City on deadline day. However, the player is likely to play through the pain against Bolivia if possible for two reasons.

Firstly, the attacker hates missing games and will likely insist to play even if he is not 100 percent fit. Secondly, fourth-placed Chile direly need their star attacker. After their 3-0 loss, they are now level on points with fifth-placed Argentina and are only two points ahead of sixth-placed Peru.

Should Alexis aggravate his injury in the final game of the ongoing international break, Arsenal will carry the cost. That could make the Gunners’ already bad season even worse.
