With the transfer window still alive and running, rumors continue to do the rounds despite several leagues having already kicked off. One of those speculations involves Kylian Mbappe and a mega-money move away from Monaco.
The 18-year-old was initially tipped to join Real Madrid, but his skyrocketing fees and the emergence of Asensio have cooled off interest. PSG are now favorites to land the French starlet, and according to Mundo Deportivo, they have already won the race.
The report by the Spanish outlet claims that an official announcement is hours away. His initial price fee is expected to be €180 million, but add-ons and bonuses could see that amount rise to €200m.
That fee will not be enough to make Mbappe the world’s most expensive player – that title goes to Neymar. Nonetheless, partnering the Frenchman with the Brazilian sensation can only be an ingredient for success at Parc des Princes.
Real Madrid have Les Parisiens to blame for his astronomical fees. The Champions League holders were willing to pay the teenager €7m-per-season, but a €12m offer from PSG led to Mbappe’s camp demanding Los Blancos match that fee.
The Spanish giants eventually pulled out of the deal, and the player is now expected to earn €18m-per-year in Paris. His Monaco exit appeared inevitable, as a fallout with Leonardo Jardim led to him being dropped in the 1-0 win over Metz.
