Team news

This will be a crucial game for Liverpool. Three days after beginning their 2017/18 English Premier League campaign with a disappointing 3-3 draw at Watford, the Reds must now come away with an away victory.

Comical defending was the theme of Klopp’s back four in Saturday’s game, but a more disciplined performance is required. Unfortunately, Nathaniel Clyne is not fit to return and rejuvenate the defense as he is still sidelined with hamstring and back injuries.

Liverpool’s woes do not stop there. They will also be without Adam Lallana, Daniel Sturridge, and Philippe Coutinho. The English midfielder and attacker are both sidelined with thigh problems – Adam will be out for two months but Daniel is expected to return next weekend.

Coutinho’s future at the club remains a mystery after handing in a transfer request, but his unavailability for Tuesday’s game is under no doubt. The Brazilian, having missed the Premier League opener due to a back injury, will sit out the trip to Germany as well.

Despite the aforementioned injuries, Hoffenheim still tip the English giants as favorite to win. This is according to their coach, Julian Nagelsmann, who admits his boys can stun Liverpool.

"Of course we know Liverpool is the favourite in this encounter and we know we can, with a good match, shock our opponent.”
