Not what Gooners want to hear days before the new season kicks off.

The new Premier League season is right around the corner. Fans eagerly await to see England’s top teams commence in battle for the title in the 2017/18 campaign.

Arsenal kick things off with a clash on Friday, August 11. The Gunners host Leicester, needing an opening day win to begin their campaign with a bang.

Unfortunately, the north London outfit have been hit with a blow – and it has to do with star attacker Alexis Sanchez. The Chilean ace is set to miss Arsenal’s clash with the Foxes, as revealed by Arsene Wenger in a press conference.

Le Prof met with reporters ahead of the game, revealing that Sanchez is suffering from “abdominal strain”. Not only is the former Barca man set to miss the Leicester clash, he will also sit out their second game – away to Stoke City.

“He [Alexis] had a little abdominal strain that he caught on Sunday morning in training, before he came to Wembley,” said Wenger, as per the Arsenal’s official website

“He had a scan two days ago and he’s out for a while - we don’t know if it is two weeks or one more week, but he will not be available. We think he will not play at Stoke.”

This injury may give rise to more fear surrounding the player’s future, as he is yet to dawn an Arsenal jersey amid the exit rumors. Recent reports have suggested that PSG’s interest is over, however, due to the signing of Neymar.

Alexis isn’t the only Arsenal ace set to miss their opening clash. Laurent Koscielny is suspended; Jack Wilshere, Santi Cazorla, and Gabriel Paulista aren’t near recovery. Question marks remain over Aaron Ramsey and Mesut Ozil after missing the Community Shield, but the midfield duo is likely to recover in time.
