The Catalan tactician believes he still needs time to really make an impact with the Sky Blues after his first unsuccessful season as a coach.

For the first time in his coaching career, Pep Guardiola is ready to sign a contract extension with his employer.

After two successful three year stints with Barcelona and Bayern Munich, the Catalan tactician has hinted his desire to keep on working with the Sky Blues beyond his current contract, which expires after the 2018-19 season.

"I will try to remain as long as possible to help, to help City keep moving forward and stay high. I think the club has to work and listen to the manager in the right moment, but also take their own decisions in the future. Nobody knows what will happen," Guardiola stated.

Man City fans were kind of disappointed after a trophyless season, the first one for Guardiola since he became a coach. According to the Catalan boss, fans have to be as demanding as they were during his first season with this club or the others he's coached before.

"The pressure is completely the same as my first year in Barcelona B, Barcelona and Bayern Munich and now, so no change at all. The guys are going to help us to be strong. The ambition is the same as last season," the coach added.

Manchester City will play against Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham in the next few days before their debut in the EPL against the recently promoted Brighton & Hove Albion.
