Who's playing? A number of Mexico's finest players of all time will meet some of Germany's World Cup champions in 1990 and runners up in 1986. The game will be played to conmemorate the friendship between both countries, and will also serve as a rematch for El Tri's players that succumbed to Die Mannschaft in the World Cups of 1986 and 1998.

What time? Sunday, July 9, at 10:00 PT/ 12:00 CT/ 13:00 ET/ 17:00 GMT/ 18:00 BST/ 19:00 CEST

What stadium? This game will be played in Mexico City's biggest public square: El Zócalo. An artificial pitch has been set up for the occasion, and up to 40,000 fans are expected to witness this game.

Team news

This game will take place 31 years after their second meeting in a World Cup, where Germany dismissed Mexico after a grueling penalty shootout. Among those who played during that hot afternoon in Monterrey will be Pablo Larios, Fernando Quirarte, Miguel España, Manuel Negrete (who scored Mexico's only goal during the shootout) and former captain Tomas Boy, among others. The German team will be represented by Andreas Brehme, Lothar Matthäus, Pierre Littbarski and Ulrich Stein, to name a few.

Those who played in the 1998 World Cup will also turn up for this game. Legendary goalie Jorge Campos, Cuauhtémoc Blanco, Luis Hernández and former captain Alberto García Aspe will be included in El Tri's roster. The German side will have marquee names around, such as former USMNT coach Jürgen Klinsmann, Thomas Hassler, Jorg Heinrich and Thomas Helmer.
