Here's how Group A looks ahead of today's match

A close race in Group A as France prepare to face Sweden

France

Only one team per group is guaranteed an automatic berth at the World Cup in Russia next year. The second-placed team will have to try their luck in the play-offs, and right now, it's France who are leading the pack. Les Bleus come into this game having warmed up with a comfortable 5-0 win over Paraguay. Olivier Giroud netted a hat-trick before Moussa Sissoko and Antoine Griezmann got in on the fun, and it was the result Deschamps wanted to see after France lost 2-0 to Spain in March.

Deschamps will have a full-strength squad available for selection, including stars like Paul Pogba, N'Golo Kante, Kurt Zouma, Laurent  Koscielny as well as the aforementioned Griezmann and Giroud. Rising starlets Ousmane Dembele and Kylian Mbappe are also included in the team, leaving Deschamps with plenty of options as France look to consolidate their top spot in Group A.

Sweden

As for Sweden, they no longer can rely on talismanic skipper Zlatan Ibrahimovic after the veteran opted to retire last year. That being said, Janne Andersson's side have done quite well, and certainly are not lacking for goals. Alongside France, they also have netted ten and conceded just three, so could pose a tricky test for their incoming visitors later today.

Having earned a well-deserved 3-2 win over reigning EURO champs Portugal recently, Sweden will definitely be full of confidence as they get ready to take on the EURO 2016 runners-up. A win for the Blågult would see things get a lot more interesting - but they have not beaten them at home since 1969. Will they end their French hoodoo today?
