The Gunners announced their first signing of the summer transfer window.

With the mystery surrounding Arsene Wenger’s future out of the way, Arsenal have completed their first piece of business of the summer transfer window. The Gunners announced a deal for Sead Kolašinac subject to completion of all regulatory process.

Wenger’s interest in the defender was no secret – the north London outfit reportedly completed the deal before the end of the 2016/17 season. Only now has confirmation arrived.

The Bosnian left-back will touchdown at the Emirates after leaving Bundesliga side Schalke. He spent six years with the German club, but opted against renewing his expired contract.

Yes, it’s true – Arsenal’s first signing of the summer is a free transfer. This would normally aggravate, but this signing is another Wenger bargain given Kolašinac’s talent.

The player, who will turn 24 on June 20, contributed to eight goals last season. His main objective is to defend, however, but that shouldn’t be difficult given that he won 52 of his 69 tackles last campaign.

The player will sign a “long-term contract” and will join up with the first team for the pre-season once formalities are completed on July 1 – the opening of the summer transfer window.
