Can Liverpool pip Manchester City to third place...and hold off Arsenal as well?

Liverpool

A win for Liverpool will ensure they finish in the top four. However, third place is still up for grabs. Manchester City are only two points ahead, and if the Sky Blues fail to pick up all three points against Watford, the Reds just may be able to pip them to third spot, which will see them avoid the Champions League play-offs. Meanwhile, Arsenal are only one point behind, so a draw for Liverpool may not suffice - especially if the Gunners manage to defeat Everton.

It's set to be a very interesting Sunday of action featuring lots of ifs, whens, and other permutations. There are three teams very much still in the running, but there are only two Champions League spots available. Both Jordan Henderson and Roberto Firmino, however, are reportedly in doubt for this game and will have to be evaluated close to the game to determine their availability. For Klopp, this is a must-win game, as Arsenal will be hoping to see them stumble as they aim for a top four spot.

Middlesbrough

As for the visitors, they're already relegated. Currently in a disappointing 19th spot, Boro have nothing but pride to play for in the final matchday of the season. They come into this game having lost their past two games, and overall have failed to score in nine out of their last 11 fixtures on the road.

With key players like Gaston Ramirez, Victor Valdes, Daniel Ayala and Adlène Guédioura all in doubt for this fixture due to varied injury problems, Boro are not expected to cause much trouble for their hosts, albeit they will obviously not want to suffer an absolute thrashing at Anfield in their final Premier League game of the season.

Broadcast info - Watford vs. Manchester City

Who's playing: Currently two points ahead of Liverpool, Manchester City are looking good to clinch third spot, which guarantees them an automatic Champions League berth. However, with the Reds taking on an already-relegated Middlesbrough, City will obviously do everything they can to pick up all three points against Watford on Sunday afternoon.

What time: Sunday, May 21st at 07:00 PST/10:00 EST/14:00 GMT/15:00 BST

What stadium: This game will be played at Vicarage Road. Watford's home base can seat up to 23.700 fans at max capacity.

Can Manchester City hold off Liverpool to clinch third place?

Watford

Watford recently announced that current boss Walter Mazzarri will be moving on at the end of this term. The hosts really have nothing much to play for, to be honest. Watford are safe for next term, and come into this game on a five game losing streak. Many of the players are already looking forward to their summer holidays and getting this season over with. To complicate things, Watford have quite a few worries in defense due to injuries and suspension.

Sebastian Prödl received a red card at Stamford Bridge, thus ruling him out for this game. Younes Kaboul and Craig Cathcart are still on the treatment table, and both Miguel Britos and Christian Kabasele are not 100 per cent fit. That could see Mazzarri have to re-shuffle his starting XI - not an ideal thing to do ahead of Manchester City's visit to Vicarage Road.

Manchester City

As things stand, Pep Guardiola's men are looking set to again feature in the Champions League next season. This term has been somewhat disappointing for the Spanish tactician, who was unable to guide the Citizens past the round of 16 stage or secure the Premier League title. That being said, he will have another chance to get things right next term. The question is: Will they start their Champions League campaign from the group stages? Or will they have to fight for a spot via a two-legged play-off?

Right now, things are very much in City's hands. They're two points ahead of Liverpool and three ahead of fifth-placed Arsenal. A draw would in fact suffice, as it would be enough to make sure they finish in the top four. Of course, Guardiola does not want to try his luck through the play-off, as they never know which team they could end up facing and as such, will be expected to finish this season on a high note with a resounding win at Vicarage Road. Vincent Kompany may not be risked after picking up a slight knock, whilst Guardiola has no other new injuries to worry him ahead of this clash.
