Monaco aim to take care of business against an injury-ravaged Saint-Etienne

Monaco

Although they have not fully secure the league title just yet, PSG boss Unai Emery certainly appears to have already accepted that the Ligue 1 crown will be moving to the principality at the end of this season. The Spanish tactician, who has already beaten Monaco in the Coupe de la Ligue final as well as the semi-finals of the Coupe de France, was quoted as saying recently that, "Mathematically [Monaco] have not secured the title yet, but I congratulate them on the great job they have done. This competition for the title is good for French football.

"We could have been champions if you look at the number of points we have won this season, but it was not enough because of Monaco. We lost four games and that was too many".

Leonardo Jardim's side come into this game having cruised to a very comfortable 4-0 victory over Lille. That saw them hit and pass the 100 goal mark, and now are just one of a few sides in Europe's "Big 5" to have achieved that (alongside LaLiga giants Barcelona and Real Madrid). A point is all it will take for Monaco to clinch the title, as this represents the game in hand they have had for a while. Both Benjamin Mendy and Almamy Touré are in doubt as the latter only played a few minutes against Lille, whilst the former didn't even come off the bench.

Despite their upcoming opponents' struggles, Jardim is still expected to play his strongest starting XI for this game as the Portuguese tactician will seek to wrap up the title race before heading into the final matchday this weekend.

Saint-Etienne

Meanwhile, Saint-Etienne come into this match having suffered a 5-0 drubbing at the hands of PSG. Les Verts have won just one out of their last five games and have little to play for. They're not in danger of relegation, but they are nowhere near claiming a European football spot, and their showing against Les Parisiens indicated a side who are looking forward already to their summer holiday.

Christophe Galtier's side are in a very interesting position. Win, lose, or draw, Monaco are going to win the Ligue 1 title. Of course, if they do beat Les Rouges-et-Blancs, Saint-Etienne could force this title race to be decided on the final matchday. But with Monaco's huge goal advantage, it won't matter, as even if they lose their next two games and PSG win their last match, it should be enough to see them over the line.

The visitors are dealing with a huge spate of injuries, and it will be very interesting to see how they decide to approach this game. Of course, having suffered a crushing defeat recently, they surely will not just come to the Stade Louis II to be humiliated, but they are not expected to be much of a match for a Monaco side who have had a brilliant season this year.
