The Swedish striker squashed claims that his illustrious career is over.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic looked to wash away fears that his illustrious career might be over, taking to social media to post a positive update on his surgery. The Swede underwent the knife after picking up a knee injury, revealing on Instagram that he is “fixed, done and stronger”.

“Once again thank you for the support. We will enjoy my game together soon,” the Man United ace wrote alongside a picture of the knee that was operated on.

The former PSG ace hurt his knee during the Europa League quarter-final clash with Anderlecht. The 35-year-old landed awkwardly, damaging ligaments as a result.

There was speculation that Ibrahimovic may be forced to retire after this. Other rumors claimed that the Swedish forward won’t play again until next year before moving to Major League Soccer.

With Zlatan’s contract ending this summer, he could have played his last game for the 20-time Premier League champions. He may be their top-scorer with 28 goals, but there has been little hint of a contract extension at Old Trafford.

The player’s agent, Mino Raiola, looked to squash talks of an early retirement by revealing the striker underwent “successful” surgery. “Zlatan Ibrahimovic has undergone successful knee surgery. He will make a full recovery and has not suffered a career-ending injury,” the agent announced.

Ibrahimovic will remain in Pittsburgh, where he underwent the surgery, for the duration of his recovery – approximately nine months.
