Manchester United’s hunt for a new goalkeeper has seen them look within the Premier League. This is according to Sky Sports, claiming that the Red Devils are eyeing a move for Kasper Schmeichel.
Sky report that their sources have revealed that the Leicester City custodian is now target number one for the Red Devils. The Danish would be a safer option than Joe Hart, also linked with a move to Old Trafford.
Man City are another club interested in Schmeichel, but the report claims that Jose Mourinho’s side are now favorites to land the 30-year-old.
Man United are on the lookout for a new shot-stopper. David de Gea is their first-choice goalkeeper, but the Spaniard is due to leave for Real Madrid over the summer.
One thing that could complicate a move for Schmeichel is his contract with the Foxes. Kasper recently put pen to paper on a five-year contract at the King Power Stadium, but a generous bid could be enough to push the deal through.
Furthermore, Schmeichel cut ties with long-term representatives Triple S Management to join Italian agent Luca Bascherini, a man who has good relations with the Red Devils. If the Leicester shot-stopper agrees, he would follow in the footstep of his legendary father.
