The Spaniard has flourished in Gareth Bale's absence, earning more game time under Zidane.

Isco’s future at Real Madrid has finally been resolved. The Spaniard looked, at one point during this season, set to leave Santiago Bernabeu, but his fortune turned around and he is now an integral figure of the starting eleven.

The former Malaga ace has been rewarded with a new contract and improved salary package. The offer to extend his stay was on the table since Christmas, according to Marca, but only now has the offer been accepted by his father and representative Paco Alarcon.

His new deal will keep the midfielder at the Bernabeu until the summer of 2022, with his salary doubling along the way. The playmaker is now the club’s sixth-highest paid player – after Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, Gareth Bale, Sergio Ramos, Toni Kroos, and Luka Modric.

Although Isco did little to help Los Blancos avoid defeat to Barca in El Clasico, he has been key to their Champions League and La Liga march. With Gareth Bale struggling with injury, the Spaniard found his opportunity.

This news will come as a huge blow to several Premier League sides, especially Man City. The Citizens were reportedly keen on the Real Madrid, but appear to have missed out.
