For Les Parisiens, this could represent another chance to win yet another piece of silverware. Unai Emery's side have already clinched the Coupe de la Ligue after thrashing Monaco 4-1. However, PSG are still definitely envious of their upcoming opponents. Why? Well, Monaco are in the semi-finals of the Champions League, and are just 180 minutes away from featuring in the final. PSG, by contrast, were dumped out in the round of 16 by Barcelona.
Losing to the Blaugrana isn't the worst thing ever, but it was the way in which PSG's campaign ended. Les Parisiens now have the dubious honor of winning the first leg 4-0 but managed to still crash out after conceding six goals at Camp Nou. In addition, the Ligue 1 title is not entirely secured, as Monaco are ahead on goal difference and have a game in hand.
With that in mind, Emery is expected to play a lot of his star players, including Edinson Cavani, Angel Di Maria, Julian Draxler, and Thiago Silva. Javier Pastore is definitely out for this fixture, but all in all, fans should expect to see a pretty strong line-up as Les Parisiens aim to set up a date against Angers in the final at the end of May.
Monaco
Meanwhile, whilst PSG will play a strong squad, Leonardo Jardim may do the opposite. Les Rouges-et-Blancs are definitely more focused on the Ligue 1 and Champions League titles, and they have a good shot at winning both. May is going to a very busy month for Monaco, as they face a two-legged tie against Juventus in the semi-finals, plus the last few matches in the run-up to the Ligue 1 title. With PSG tied on points, any slip-ups could be costly for the ambitious side as they aim to end Les Parisiens' hold on the Ligue 1 title.
It's been an excellent season for Monaco and they surely will want to wrap it up with some silverware. Coming into this game, they are dealing with some injuries, including Benjamin Mendy and Djibril Sidibe. Young star Kylan Mbappe, who has been one of the standout players in Europe this season, will not feature as he reportedly did not even make the trip to Paris. The same could also apply for skipper Radamel Falcao, who appears to have finally shaken off his injury woes as Jardim will want to have everyone of note fit and firing on all cylinders for their match against Juventus next month.
